Jamie Durie leads star-studded design team for $160 million development

Gold Coast developer Bastion has assembled a powerhouse team of industry leaders - fronted by internationally acclaimed landscape designer and TV personality Jamie Durie - to deliver Nera Residences, a boutique luxury apartment project set to transform Chevron Island with its blend of architecture, wellness and nature-inspired living.

Backed by EMF founder and elite fitness leader Scott Freeman, award-winning architects Studio Snell, BDA Architecture, and Plus Architects, the $160 million development promises to elevate coastal living through a strong focus on wellness and design.

Jamie Durie described his vision as extending beyond aesthetics.

"This isn't just about plants and pathways, it's about creating a restorative space that resonates with how people want to live," he said.

"The design blends natural elements with refined architecture, delivering a sanctuary that enhances daily life."

Located at 8-10 Parneno Street, Nera will comprise 81 boutique apartments, six sky homes, and a full-floor penthouse. More than 70% of residences have already sold, with strong demand from both local and interstate buyers.

"This calibre of talent is rarely brought together on a single residential project," said Bastion CEO Alex Wood.

"Each of these individuals brings deep expertise and a strong design philosophy that will shape Nera into one of the Gold Coast's most iconic addresses."

Durie, who has built an international reputation for his nature-driven design philosophy, will create all landscaping across the project, including a private Zen Garden that anchors Nera's amenity offering.

"Downsizing from a family home often means sacrificing access to green space, something we wanted to solve in a meaningful, permanent way," said Wood.

Residents will also benefit from a wellness-first approach, with Freeman bringing his EMF fitness expertise to design an on-site gym that integrates elite training principles with community-focused functionality.

Architect and design commentator Joe Snell will design three four-bedroom villas on the grounds, each with rooftop entertaining areas and exclusive access to Nera's premium amenities.

The villas are currently in concept design and will embody Snell's five foundational design principles: space, light, air, sound, and view.

"It's an honour to be designing the villas at Nera - a project with such a strong vision for liveability and longevity," Snell said.

Construction of Nera Residences is expected to be completed in 2027, with Bastion positioning the development as a landmark project in the heart of Chevron Island.
